In light of how easy it is to criticise the presentation of supposedly ideal love between teenagers in...that particular book series whose existence unites us on this website, I have on occasion found myself wondering what works I know off the top of my head that feature a teenage couple with an admirable or otherwise memorable relationship. One common problem I find with such characters written for teenagers is that that the romance is presented in an all-consumingly passionate manner clearly intended to appeal to the often emotionally volatile state of adolescents experiencing attraction at that age. What I want to know is what outstanding examples exist of fictional teenage couples where the romance realistic enough to be believable, yet ideal enough to be endearing.

Anything by Sarah Dessen. Most of her books deal with romance, and they are all very realistically portrayed. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope it helps!

I have to say Irial and Niall from wicked lovely.

Yes it's a gay pairing and if you've read the book you know they have issues. But I find there love to be real and raw, they are my favorite YA couple

Well, it's only a side plot of Twisted, but I think Hannah and Yoda's romance is lovely. Especially how all her hockey mates think he's sweet and adopt him as their mascot. And I liked how it started with the reader thinking that Hannah was a stereotypical girl who wanted popularity, but then you see that she is very loyal to her brother and Yoda.
Maybe I'm reading into it too much, it was only a side plot, but I did like it.
